U.S. Marine Capt. Joe Moeller, company commander of the security force aboard Al Taqaddum Air Base, Iraq, describes his unit's insertion, and the mission to secure coalition forces at the base. The security force company is from 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, part of Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force-Crisis Response-Central Command, which is a unit designed to nimbly respond to contingencies and emergent situations within U.S. Central Command's Area of Operations. Al Taqaddum is the newest Advise and Assist location, part of Operation Inherent Resolve's strategy to enable Iraqi security forces in their fight against the Islamic State group.
