U.S. Marines from 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment return from training with Korean Marines Jan. 7, 2016. KMEP 16-3 is one in a series of regularly-scheduled combined, small-unit, tactical training exercises between ROK and forward deployed U.S. Marines. The relationship between ROK and U.S. Marine Corps forces encompasses the strategic, operational, and tactical levels of training. The goal of the KMEP is to enhance and improve interoperability of ROK and U.S. Marine Corps forces at the level to build warfighting capabilities as partners.
