SSgt Mariko Frazee (AFN Pacific) reporting
Soundbite: RDML Brian S. Hurley, Valiant Shield 2016 Exercise Director
Script:
Reporter: I'm at Andersen Air Force Base Guam where Valiant Shield 2016 just kicked off. Valiant Shield is a biennual U.S. only exercise held around the Joint Region Marianas islands area of responsibility. Exercise Director Rear Admiral Brian Hurley spoke about the importance of the joint training.
RDML Brian S. Hurley: "We'll do these type of joint exercises with our allies and partners and other nations, but this is our one time to do it together. It really allows us to focus on getting better in support of all of our assets. For our Soldiers, Airmen, Marines, and Sailors, to be better prepared and have the rapport in our actions across all the different services, this is the best thing to do. It really helps us overall because that's what our leaders are expecting from us, to be able to work together side by side to go off and do what's best, so its a great opportunity to break down those barriers. It is one language, but it's a different understanding sometimes."
