Army National Guard units are merging with active units as a
part of the Secretary of the Army's Associated Unit Pilot Program.

THE 86TH INFANTRY BRIGADE COMBAT TEAM-MOUNTAIN, OF THE VERMONT NATIONAL GUARD IS MERGING WITH THE ACTIVE UNIT, 10TH MOUNTAIN DIVISION LIGHT INFANTRY, THROUGH A NEW PROGRAM AS EXPLAINED BY COMMANDER, COLONEL ANDREW HARRIS.
"THE CHIEF OF STAFF OF THE ARMY HAS LAUNCHED A PROGRAM CALLED THE ASSOCIATED UNIT PILOT PROGRAM TO MORE CLOSELY ALIGN ACTIVE COMPONENT AND GUARD AND RESERVE UNITS WITH EACHOTHER FOR THE PURPOSES OF INCREASING OUR READINESS."
AND AS A PART OF THE SAME ASSOCIATED UNIT PILOT PROGRAM THE 840TH ENGINEERING COMPANY OF THE TEXAS ARMY NATIONAL GUARD WILL NOW WEAR THE PATCH OF FORT HOOD'S 36TH ENGINEER BRIGADE. SERGEANT KEITH HUFFSTUTTLER SAYS HE THINKS THE PARTNERSHIP WILL BE BENEFICIAL FOR ALL.
"NOW THAT WE'VE CHANGED TO THE 36TH ENINEER BRIGADE IT'S DEFINITELY LOOKING FORWARD TO THE FUTURE, BEING READY TO DEPLOY, READY FOR ANY TASK THEY TRHOW AT US."
