events of the Best Medic Competition help build adaptive Soldiers.
SERGEANT NATHANIEL PHILLIPS SOLDIERS RADIO NEWS
THE ARMY'S BEST MEDIC COMPETITION CAME TO A CLOSE AT FORT SAM HOUSTON, TEXAS WHERE MORE THAN 30, 2-MAN TEAMS COMPETED FOR 3 STRAIGHT DAYS. EVENT ARCHITECT, MASTER SERGEANT MIKE ELDRED SAYS THE EVENTS WERE DESIGNED TO CHALLENGE THE TEAM'S CRITICAL THINKING.
"WELL WE'RE TRYING TO INCORPORATE AGILE ADAPTIVE THINKING PROCESSES USING CRITICAL THINKING PROCESSES IN THEIR DECISIONS. WE GIVE THEM AS MUCH INFORMATION AS NECESSARY FOR THEM TO MAKE THE CHOICE AND DECISION AND SOMETIMES THE DECISION IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THAN WHAT WE EXPECTED AND IT DOESN'T NECESSARILY MEAN IT'S WRONG. IT ADDS THE ABILITY FOR THEM TO BE TESTED ON THEIR ABILITY TO THINK AND REACT IN A COMPLEX WORLD."
IN THE END ONLY TWO SOLDIERS COULD TAKE HOME THE TITLE OF THE U-S ARMY'S BEST MEDIC TEAM, CONGRATULATIONS TO STAFF SERGEANT NOAH MITCHELL AND SERGEANT DERICK BOSLEY FROM THE U-S ARMY SPECIAL OPERATIONS COMMAND.
