SOLDIERS IN KOREA COME TOGETHER EVERY FRIDAY NIGHT TO WATCH THEIR PEERS COMPETE IN A COMBATIVES TOURNAMENT. EVENT COORDINATOR, SERGEANT FIRST CLASS BRIAN JOHNSON SAYS THAT THE EVENT IS FULL EVERY WEEK AND IT PROVIDES A SAFE ALTERNATIVE TO THE BAR SCENE NEAR THE BASE.
"IT CREATED A DIFFERENT VENUE, ENTERTAINMENT WISE, FOR THE SOLDIERS TO ATTEND EACH FRIDAY TO GIVE THEM AN OPTION OTHER THAN GOING OUT AND PARTYING AND KEEP THEM ON BASE, YOU KNOW, A SAFE ENVIRONMENT TO COME TOGETHER. AS OVERALL TEAMS TO CHEER ON THEIR UNITS."
FORT BENNING, GEORGIA HOSTED THE SIXTEENTH ANNUAL SNIPER COMPETITION THAT BROUGHT FORTY-TWO TEAMS FROM ACROSS THE ARMY, LAW ENFORCEMENT AND INTERNATIONAL MILITARIES TO COMPETE OVER FOUR DAYS AND NIGHTS. LIEUTENANT COLONEL JOHN CARSON SAYS THIS WAS THE LARGEST EVENT TO DATE AND IT WAS GREAT TO SEE INTEREST FROM ACROSS THE GLOBE.
"ITS AMAZING FOR OUR ARMY, ITS AMAZING TO HAVE ALL THE JOINT AND SISTER SERVICES AND ALL OF THE INTERNATIONAL TEAMS THAT WERE HERE. IT WAS JUST A GREAT WEEK."
