THE 2ND ENGINEER BATTALION BURNS THEIR COLORS EVERY YEAR TO HONOR THE BATTALIONS ACTIONS DURING THE BATTLE OF KUNU-RI DURING THE KOREAN WAR. COMMANDER, LIEUTENANT COLONEL JEREMY CHAPMAN SAYS THEY BURNED THE COLORS LONG AGO TO PREVENT IT FROM FALLING INTO ENEMY HANDS.
"THIS EVENING WE COMMENORATE A SINGLE SIGNIFICANT BATTLE IN THE BATTALION'S 155 YEAR HISTORY. TONIGHT I'D LIKE TO NOT ONLY REMEMBER THOSE WHO FOUGHT IN THE BATTLE OF KUNU-RI, BUT THE THOUSDANDS OF SOLDIERS WHO HAVE SERVED UNDER THESE COLORS ALL OVER THE WORLD."
SOLDIERS FROM THE 1ST ARMORED DIVISION BAND PLAYED MUSIC WITH THE KUWAITI NATIONAL GUARD BAND. CAPTAIN JOEL DUBOIS, COMMANDER, 1ST ARMORED DIVISION BAND, SAYS IT WAS A PERFECT WAY TO SHOW THAT MUSIC IS A UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE
"IT WAS FANTASTIC, A GREAT OPPORTUNITY, WE WERE ABLE TO COLLABORATE AND COMMUNICATE MUSICALLY AND FIND SOME COMMON GROUND TOGETHER TODAY."
