President-elect Donald Trump has selected a second retired four-star Marine General to serve in his administration's cabinet. General John F. Kelly, has over 40 years of service with the Corps, and served as Commander of the United States Southern Command from 2012 until his retirement in 2016.
More than 300 Marines with the 11th MEU wrapped up its first joint-training mission with the newly created Sri Lankan marine corps last week. For 3 days, U-S Marines taught Sri Lankan marines basic military skills, and more importantly, strengthened U-S military presence in the Pacific region. The Sri Lankan marine corps was created in September and is modeled after the U-S Marine Corps. Staff Sergeant Austin Rice believes that the joint training benefits Marines in both countries
