On December 14th, charges against three Marines were referred to a special court-martial and a fourth Marine will appear before an Article 32 hearing stemming from investigations into allegations of abuse on MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina.
Flight operations of MV-22 Osprey tiltrotors in Japan are halted after a Marine Corps aircraft landed in shallow waters off the coast of Okinawa on December 13th. The incident is currently under investigation.
The new, high-tech gear, equipment, vehicles and weapons systems the Marine Corps needs for the future force require more batteries and fuel than what Marines had a decade ago. So the Marine Corps, along with the Navy, are pushing ahead to find and field innovative "green" energy technologies and commercial solutions to meet its operational energy demand on the battlefield.
