I'm Cpl. Michael Parks with your Marine Minute.
Marines from the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit departed from Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune to embark on a deployment at sea, Feb. 6. The MEU Marines and Sailors are deploying to support maritime security operations, crisis response and theater security cooperation, while also providing a forward expeditionary naval presence in Europe and the Middle East.
Also in the Corps,
Marines from the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit and Soldiers from the Western Army Infantry Regiment, Japanese Ground Self Defense Force, conducted amphibious-assault training during Exercise Iron Fist 2018 on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, February 5th. Iron Fist is an annual, bilateral training exercise where U.S. and Japanese service members train together for five weeks while exchanging techniques, tactics and procedures to improve their combined operational capabilities.
