Courtesy of I Heart Radio - March is North Carolina National Guard's Heritage month and on March 24, 2018 the NC Guard is 355 years old. The NCNG is one of the state’s oldest institutions being established in 1663 as a part of the Carolina Charter. The Carolina Charter allowed the eight lord proprietors the rights to “levy, train and muster men of all sorts…” to protect the lives and property of the peoples living in the Carolinas.
Today’s Guard has a “Dual-Mission”. A mission to be Always Ready here at home; to deploy throughout the state and provide our vital skills and capabilities in times of natural or man-made disasters, and a mission to mobilized for “Federal Service” when ordered by the President of the United States.
