Tuesday March 6 brought in a historic milestone for the Marine Corps as is marked the first time female Marines checked in to Marine Combat Training, at the School of Infantry West, on Camp Pendleton, California. Prior to this all new female Marines attended MCT at SOI East at Camp Geiger, North Carolina. This new intergration is part of an effort to create a enviorment that more closely reflects the operating forces while simultaneously enhancing and modernizing the Marine Corps entry level training. Approximately 1,700 female Marines are expected to be trained at annually MCT West.
Also in the Corps,
Marines from Mountain Warfare Training Center, Bridgeport, California are preparing to represent "Team America" in the first International Mountain Warfare Training Patrol Competition. This new competition is slated to take place in Ruhpolding, Germany and is designed to test the mountain infantry's capabilities.
