The Marine Corps sent nearly 2, 500 Marines with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, March 6th, to Israel for a two-week joint defense training exercise known as Juniper Cobra. They are in various locations and at times in the vicinity of civilian populations throughout Israel. Their main focus during the biennial exercise is honing warfighting skills and preparing for any contingency while the Israeli Defense Forces conduct a series of ballistic missile drills.

The Marine Corps is celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Marine Corps Women's Reserve Band, March 11th during a concert at the Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall and Arts Center in Alexandria, Va. The MCWR band was active from 1943 to 1945 and women started enlisting in July 1943. After bootcamp they went straight to the band located in Camp Lejeune, N.C. Marine Band Director Capt. William F. Santelmann had 37 marines within 10 weeks and was ready for their first concert.
