I'm Corporal Savannah Mosby with your Marine Minute.
This year, Marines from around the world will come together to participate in the 10th annual RECON challenge at Camp Pendleton, Cali. May 17th. The challenge is more than just an event for the RECON Marines to compete in. It is a time to push themselves mentally and physically to honor the fallen.
Also in the news,
Around 300 Marines with 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment from Camp Lejeune, N.C. will deploy to Norway in the coming weeks. They will replace the current Marines there and learn to fight and survive in extreme cold weather climate. This next set of Marines will be the third six-month rotation to the allied country. Over the last year, Marines trained in Norway, Germany, Sweden, and South Korea getting experience in skiing, fighting in the snow and the use of snow vehicles such as the Corps' BV-206 along with learning the constraints of fighting in cold weather. All of this is to prepare Marines for the upcoming large-scale exercise this fall called Trident Juncture.
That's it for your Marine Minute, for more news around the Marine Corps go to Marines.mil.
