I'm Corporal Troy Saunders with your Marine Minute.
Marines and sailors with the I Marine Expeditionary Force are currently participating in Exercise Pacific Blitz 19 throughout the state of California and the Pacific Ocean. Pacific Blitz is a scenario-driven, joint-exercise that provides relevant training by replicating a realistic maritime-threat environment. The exercise is designed to to challenge and improve the amphibious capabilities of the Navy-Marine Corps team.
Also in the Corps,
Marines with 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, recently conducted underwater egress training at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California. The training systems at Camp Pendleton are able to simulate the CH-53 Super Stallion and MV-22 Osprey, providing Marines with the training necessary to escape from a submerged aircraft safely in the event of a crash.
On this day in Marine Corps history in 1952,
Six new Marine battalions and air groups were activated on the West Coast, giving the Corps the full authorized limit of three divisions and three aircraft wings.
That's it for your Marine Minute, for more news around the Corps go to Marines.mil.
