Marines and Sailors of U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, are conducting the Pacific Amphibious Leaders Symposium, having started June 3rd it is set to conclude June 6th, The Symposium brings together senior leaders of allied and partner militaries with significant interest in the security and stability of the Indo-Pacific region to discuss key aspects of Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Relief operations, capability development, crisis response, and joint operational capabilities.
This week in Marine Corps History in 1955,
General Holland McTyeire Smith, became the first commanding general of Fleet Marine Force Pacific. As commander he distinguished himself so well that a Marine Corps Installation, Camp H. M. Smith, in the Hawaiian town of Aiea on the island of Oahu, was named after him. It is the headquarters of the United States Indo-Pacific Command, Special Operations Command Pacific, and the Marine service component command of INDOPACOM.
