I’M CORPORAL ONEG PLISNER WITH YOUR MARINE MINUTE. JOINT VIKING WORKS TO STRENGTHEN THE MARINE CORPS’ LONG AND CLOSE RELATIONSHIP WITH THE NORWEGIAN ARMED FORCES. HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW.
JOINT VIKING IS PART OF THE TRANS-ATLANTIC STRATEGIC RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE U.S. AND EUROPE, WHICH HAS BEEN FORGED OVER THE PAST SEVEN DECADES AND IS BUILT ON A FOUNDATION OF SHARED VALUES, EXPERIENCES, AND VISION.
EVERY OTHER YEAR COMBINED LAND, AIR, AND SEA UNITS FROM MARINES AND NORWEGIAN FORCES TRAIN IN WINTER ENVIRONMENTS IN NORTHERN NORWAY. ADDITIONAL UNITS FROM NATO AND PARTNER NATIONS COMBINE AND INTEGRATE TO SUPPORT THE EXERCISE.
THE GOAL OF JOINT VIKING IS TO STRENGTHEN GLOBAL SECURITY AND TEST OUR FORCES IN DEMANDING WINTER CONDITIONS.
