F-15Cs assigned from the 48th Fighter Wing, Royal Air Force Lakenheath, U.K., deployed to Šiauliai Air Base, Lithuania, to assume lead of the NATO-led Baltic Air Policing mission on Aug. 30, 2017. The BAP mission started in April 2004 when the Baltic States joined NATO and has been executed by NATO nations continuously ever since. The U.S. has supported this NATO mission since 2005, with this being the fifth rotation. Supporting BAP demonstrates the United States' commitment to NATO and upholding NATO Article 5.
