Roger A. Towberman was the first Chief Master Sgt. of the Space Force. In this role, he served at the highest enlisted level of leadership, and as such, provided direction for the enlisted force and represented their interests, as appropriate, to the American public and to those in all levels of government. He acted as the personal adviser to the Chief of Space Operations and the Secretary of the Air Force on all issues regarding the welfare, readiness, morale, proper utilization and development of the U.S. Space Force. Chief Master Sgt. of the Space Force John F. Bentivegna succeeded Towberman as the highest noncommissioned officer at Space Force on Sept. 15, 2023.
