The Command Sergeant Major of the Army National Guard serves as a principal advisor to the Director of the Army National Guard on all things affecting the Army National Guard's enlisted force and their families. Additionally, the ARNG CSM works collaboratively with the Department of the Army and National Guard Bureau to provide strategic leadership and guidance to the 54 states, territories, and the District of Columbia's Adjutant Generals, Army National Guard senior leaders, the Secretary of the Army, the Chief of Staff of the Army, and the Chief of the National Guard Bureau.
