U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Rex C. McMillian, commander of U.S. Marine Corps Forces Reserve, presented Purple Heart medals to the families of Gunnery Sgt. Thomas Sullivan, Staff Sgt. David Wyatt, Sgt. Carson Holmquist and Lance Cpl. Squire "Skip" Wells during a ceremony in Chattanooga, Tennessee, April 20, 2016. The four Marines were killed during an attack on the Naval Operational Support Center in Chattanooga on July 16, 2015. An investigation conducted by the FBI and the Navy Criminal Investigative Service determined the attack had been inspired by a foreign terrorist group making the Marines eligible for the Purple Heart medal.
