Exercise Cold Response is a Norwegian-led exercise. This exercise is designed to enhance military capabilities, test the U.S. Marine Corps' ability to work alongside NATO allies and partners and adapt to challenging climates while training on offensive and defensive tactical operations. Exercise Cold Response is part of a regularly occurring series of exercises in northern Europe where the Marine Corps executes the ability to rapidly deploy Marines and Sailors in support of our European NATO allies and partners.
Meteorology and Oceanography (METOC) Analyst Forecasters of II Marine Expeditionary Force, work around the clock collecting data, studying the atmosphere and forecasting the weather for operations during the exercise.
The value of Marine Corps Reconnaissance lies in stealthily entering potentially hostile territory, gathering information unobserved, and exiting a site while leaving no trace behind. While traditional Marine reconnaissance units are unlikely to ever lose their tried and true utility, a new force is proving to be as valuable to the service: Marine Corps cyber reconnaissance.
