The 10th Mountain Division commemorates the hardships and trials the original 10th Mountain Soldiers went through to prepare for combat by hosting an annual winter competition during 16 – 19 JAN 24. The 10th Mountain Division commemorates the hardships and trials the original 10th Mountain Soldiers went through to prepare for combat by hosting an annual winter competition during 16 – 19 JAN 24. The name “D Series” is a reference to the culminating winter training event that the Soldiers of the 10th Mountain Division went through in March-April 1944 to prepare for combat in the mountains of Italy. World War 2 10th MTN events are celebrated in the same Colorado mountains every winter by the 10th Mountain Division Descendants, Inc. (10MDD), the 10th Mountain Foundation (10MDF), the National Ski Patrol, and many of the businesses which owe their founding to the 10th MTN Division. These annual events are an opportunity to train in a challenging and historically significant Alpine environment, build relationships with community partners, and enhance alpine culture with the Division. show less
