The Michigan Army National Guard’s 46th Military Police Command is beginning a series of increasingly-complex planning and execution exercises to coordinate and rehearse emergency response actions in the event of a chemical, biological, nuclear, or radiological attack in a dense urban environment. Detroit, as the nearest concentration of urban terrain, provides the command and local response elements an opportunity to exercise these valuable skills in an urban setting.
The 46th MP Command is one of three U.S. Army designated Command and Control elements for such a response and is tasked to coordinate with local, state, and federal government agencies for life-saving disaster response and recovery in the event of such an attack.
This training exercise involves personnel from various local, state, federal and international agencies to include the Michigan Army National Guard, Detroit Police Department, Detroit Fire Department, Michigan State Highway Patrol, Oakland County Sheriff Department, Detroit Emergency Operations Center, Wayne County Health Department, FEMA and many others. show less
