    SOUTHERN VANGUARD (SV) is an annual U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) exercise at the operational and tactical levels to increase interoperability between U.S and Western Hemisphere forces, in this instance, Brazil. This year’s iteration, Exercise Southern Vanguard 24 (ExSV24), will take place throughout November, in Belem, Macapa, and Oiapoque. U.S. Army South (ARSOUTH) and 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) will work alongside the Brazilian Army in varying terrain while conducting air assault operations, urban operations, and weapon familiarization.
