Members of the armed forces will be conducting a medical training event June 14-22 in the tri-state area that will provide medical and dental services to the public at no cost.
As part of the Defense Department’s Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) program, members of the Air National Guard, Navy Reserve, Air Force Reserve, active duty Navy, and active duty Air Force, working in cooperation with the Delta Area Economic Opportunity Corporation (DAEOC), will provide the services at locations in Sikeston, Mo.; Barlow, Ky.; and Cairo, Ill.
While the primary purpose of the mission is to conduct deployment and readiness training for military personnel, incidental to military readiness training, the DAEOC Tri-State IRT teams will provide medical, dental, and optometry services to assist local health authorities in addressing underserved and unmet community health needs.
DAEOC Tri-State 2019 is intended to build on the long-standing tradition of U.S.
armed forces acting as good neighbors at the local level while meeting the need for critical mission training in military-civilian contingency operations and health care delivery in the time of crisis, conflict, or disaster. show less
