A unified command consisting of Coast Guard 17th District crews, Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, and other federal, state, local and tribal partners battled the elements in December and January 2013 to provide assistance to the crews of the Kulluk after it broke free from its tow vessel and ran aground near Kodiak, Alaska.
