The name “D Series” refers to the culminating winter training event that the Soldiers of the 10th Mountain Division went through in March-April 1944 to prepare for combat in the mountains of Italy. World War 2 10th Mountain events are celebrated in the same Colorado mountains every winter by the 10th Mountain Division Descendants, Inc. (10MDD), the 10th Mountain Foundation (10MDF), the National Ski Patrol, and many of the businesses, which owe their founding to the 10th Mountain Division. These annual events are an opportunity to train in a challenging and historically significant Alpine environment, build relationships with community partners, and enhance the Alpine culture within the Division. show less
