The 360th CA Bde implements the Operations Viking exercise to rehearse unified action that simulates the deployment of civil affairs units to Africa in direct support of a joint task force (JTF) contingency operation.
The 412th and 404th Civil Affairs Battalions are the primary training audience. These battalions conduct a DREE via MILAIR, Air-Land, and Airborne infiltration into Joint Base Cape Cod (JBCC). The role of CA is to engage and influence unified action partners and Indigenous populations and institutions (IPI), conduct MGO, enable CMO, and provide civil considerations expertise through the planning and execution of civil affairs operations (CAO). The training will continue with reinforcement of CA role.
CAO intends to engage and leverage the civil component (people, organizations, and capabilities) to enhance situational understanding, mitigate threats to civil society, and consolidate gains in support of the strategic objective of establishing a secure and stable OE that is consistent with U.S. interests.
With Operations Viking, the command expects CA forces at the brigade and battalion to train to provide a dedicated capability to plan, enable, shape, integrate, manage, and execute CAO within a joint environment at the operational and tactical levels.
Multiple partners will be participating in this operation including USAF, USGC, USSF, 3rd SFG, Massachusetts ARNG, PSYOP, TIOG show less
