U.S. and Republic of Korea Marine Corps forces are conducting the Korean Marine Exchange Program 15-8, known as Peninsula Express, in the vicinity of Chinhae and Pohang from June 10 - July 22, in order to increase interoperability and combined capabilities of the ROK and U.S. Marine Corps forces.
Peninsula Express is one in a series of regularly-scheduled combined, small-unit, tactical training exercise that fall under the umbrella of the KMEP. Peninsula Express demonstrates continued dedication to the ROK-U.S. relationship and contributes to the security and stability of the Korean Peninsula, as well as the Asia-Pacific region. Approximately 600 MarForRes personnel, along with approximately 200 active component Marines, will participate in the exercise with approximately 430 ROK Marine Corps forces. The U.S. exercise force will be using equipment organic to an infantry battalion, to include Amphibious Assault Vehicles (AAVs), that will be debarked off MPF shipping to support the exercise while the ROK exercise force will be utilizing organic Korean infantry equipment along with Korean AAVs and Korean Landing Craft Air Cushioned (LCAC).
