Exercise Southern Vanguard is an annual U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) sponsored exercise at the operational and tactical levels to increase interoperability between the United States and Western Hemisphere forces. This year’s iteration of the exercise, Exercise Southern Vanguard 23 (ExSV23), will take place throughout November, in Tolemaida, Colombia with U.S. Army personnel training alongside the Colombian Army in varying terrain while conducting weapon familiarization lanes and culminating in a combined maneuver and assault operation.
