Exercise Tamiok Strike 2021 (TKS21) is an inaugural event scheduled from 26 July to 6 August 2021 in Port Moresby and Lae. The bilateral exercise focuses on tactical interoperability, sponsored by U.S. Army Pacific, and hosted by the PNGDF. Tamiok Strike increases readiness of both the U.S. Army and the PNGDF to conduct Infantry and Engineer training. Highlights are the Opening and Closing Ceremonies and National Remembrance Day in Papua New Guinea that is observed every July 23rd to commemorate the services of the members of the nation's armed forces who participated during World War One, World War Two, in general peace keeping, and law and order engagements within the country and abroad. These training and educational opportunities not only increase unit readiness, but also provide Soldiers and leaders with the cultural awareness and familiarization necessary to operate in overseas contingencies. Tamiok Strike supports the USARPAC Theater Security Cooperation Plan by building interoperability, capacity, and relationships in the Pacific; through assurance of allies and partners during operations west of the International Date Line; and by providing an additional response capability for the USARPAC Commander. show less
