This year marks the 75th anniversary of WWII and the Allied invasion of<br /> Normandy, in which the United States played a critical and important role.<br /> To mark the anniversary, the U.S. European Command with its allies and<br /> partners, will come together to honor and thank WWII veterans and their<br /> families for their service and sacrifices on behalf of the United States;<br /> recognize the contributions and sacrifices of Unites States Allies during<br /> WWII; educate the public about the history of WWII and the service of the<br /> Armed Forces; and pay tribute to the Allied troops who liberated the<br /> prisoners of Nazi concentration camps. The anniversary observances may be<br /> the final opportunity to honor and thank WWII veterans and their families in<br /> person.
