The Warrior Games, founded in 2010, are designed to introduce wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans to adaptive sports, encourage them to stay physically active when they return to their local communities and inspire and promote opportunities for growth and achievement. Since its inception, the Warrior Games have been hosted by the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and presented by Deloitte Corporation. This year will mark the first time that the DoD will take responsibility for the operational planning and coordination of the event, to be hosted by the U.S. Marine Corps at Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA from June 19-28, 2015. Approximately 250 athletes are expected to participate in the 2015 games, representing teams from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy/Coast Guard, Air Force and Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). The 2015 DoD Warrior Games will also include wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans from the British Armed Forces in support of the U.S.-U.K. Task Force and in reciprocity to U.S. armed forces participation at the Invictus Games held in London last year. show less
