Warriors from around the world will compete in the U.S. Army's Best Warrior Competition, a grueling, week-long competition at Fort A.P. Hill, Va., Oct. 5-9, 2014. One of these professionals will earn the right to be called Soldier of the Year and another Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) of the Year. Twenty-six Warriors representing 13 U.S. Army major commands will test their skills and knowledge against Army standards and each other. Warriors in the ranks of private through specialist at the start of the competition season can compete for Soldier of the Year.
Those competing for NCO of the Year must be in the ranks of corporal through sergeant first class. These Soldiers have advanced ahead of their peers at multiple competitions over the last several months at their posts, camps, and stations. Sergeant Major of the Army (SMA) Daniel A. Dailey will oversee this annual competition. Competition winners will be announced at an award ceremony held at the Washington D.C. Convention Center on Oct. 12, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. show less
