Desert Warrior, the newest squad based leadership class in the Army teaches soldiers how to survive and fight in a desert environment. Hosted by the Iron Training Detachment, 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss, Texas, the 17-day class is the first desert specific Army school since the desert phase of Ranger School was discontinued in 1995. Divided into three phases the course first teaches students the academics of desert warfare, followed by a week of skill specific field training and finally culminating with a continuous 96 hour field exercise across Fort Bliss.
