U.S Navy representatives, assigned the Commander, Navy Region Mid-Atlantic (CNRMA), a long with New York Representatives announced the return of Fleet Week New York (FWNY) March 16, 2022 At city hall in New York City.
FWNY will return to the city this May for the first time since 2019.
"We're thrilled to return to New York and showcase how the Navy, Marine Coprs, and Coast Guard provide our nation and NATO partners an advantage at sea," said Rear Adm. Charles "Chip" Rock, Commander Navy Region Mid-Atlantic.
FWNY, held in New York City nearly every year since 1984, was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 do to the COVID-19 Pandemic and was held entirely virtually on social media.
“New York has always been an incredible host. We can't wait for our brave women and men to get an opportunity to experience all the city offers and for New Yorkers to get a glimpse of what we do every day," said Rock. This will create memories that last a lifetime.
CNRMA, the lead planning organization for FWNY this year, is the regional coordinator for all shore-based naval personnel and shore activitiesin the Mid-Atlantic region, which encompasses 20 states, 14 installations, and 50 Naval OperationalSupport Centers.
