Gen. David L. Goldfein is nominated to become the 21st Chief of Staff of the
Air Force during a ceremony June 24, 2016. If confirmed, Gen. Goldfein will take over for Gen. Mark A. Welsh III, who will retire after 30 years of service, including the longest tenure as CSAF in Air Force history.
