Rapid Forge is a USAFE-led mission to enhance readiness and test our ability to function at locations other than main air bases, which is called dispersal operations. Rapid Forge will include F-35A Lightning II and F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jets forward deploying from Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, to bases in the territory of other NATO allies. Additional USAFE-based aircraft, including C-130Js, MC-130Js and KC-135s will participate in the operation, flying out of their home stations in Europe. The mission is intended to enhance interoperability with NATO allies and partners to improve combined operational capabilities.
F-35A Lightning II fighter jets arrived at Amari Air Base, Estonia, today, along with MC-130J Commando II aircraft, for the final day of Rapid Forge operations. Rapid Forge is a U.S. Air Forces in Europe-sponsored training event designed to enhance interoperability with NATO allies and partners, improve readiness and sharpen operational capabilities.
U.S. Air Force fighter and mobility aircraft forward deployed to bases in Latvia, Estonia, and Poland on July 23, 2019, as part of Operation Rapid Forge. The exercise involves forward arming and refueling at bases in the territory of NATO allies in order to enhance readiness and improve interoperability.
