Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was an American Baptist minister and a leader of the civil rights movement. Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni commemorates the national observance of King’s birthday, when the nation pauses to remember his life and his efforts. The United States Marine Corps follows in the steps of King through providing equal opportunities for all races, creeds and religions.
