The cyber threat is real at work and at home. Best practices include using only approved software/hardware to conduct Marine Corps business; restricting access to remote meetings and conference calls; verifying web addresses, email addresses and contact information; using strong passphrases and passwords as well as MCEN-approved VPN software; and updating security settings. Users should not: share links to remote meetings and conference calls on open websites or social media; open attachments or click links from unknown senders; provide usernames, passwords or other personally identifiable information in response to an unencrypted email or phone call; use the same password for multiple accounts; use public or non-secured Wi-Fi access points; or use personally procured, non-authorized video or chat services.
