This graphic celebrates the federal observance of Martine Luther King Jr. Day at I Marine Expeditionary Force Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton on the third Monday of each January. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was an American Baptist minister and activist who sought out the unity of Americans through peaceful demonstrations. King and his followers are a major reason why civil rights were able to advance at a quick rate during the late 1950’s and 1960’s. (U.S. Marine Corps photo illustration by Lance Cpl.
