This poster summarizes the strategic direction for Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH). MCBH provides forward-based, sustainable, and secure training and operational support, facilities, and services to enable Operational Forces to accomplish their mission. In conjunction with Marine Corps Base Hawaii's strategic direction plan, a modern revision was applied to the installation logo as well as additional design element capturing the installation's lines of effort. The revision consisted of updated the visual aesthetics that were meant to reflect the modern Marine, installation and enterprise. Summary of changes to the base logo are as follows: Outside ring -The circular stroke around the logo has been widened and the color has been changed from black to gray; the gray, gun-metal, color resembles the metal that are weapon systems are made with; the widening of the outer ring provides additional space in which the installation name was placed; this design choice resembles a coin design, making the logo versatile for future product development; crossed rifles were also added in this space, reinforcing the symbolism that every Marine is a rifleman; Inner circle content - The original line art Eagle, Globe and Anchor was replaced with the modern Eagle, Globe and Anchor; the banners were removed since the text is now positioned on the outer rim of the design; the Hawaiian Islands artwork was updated and were repositioned so that the island of Oahu was not covered by the updated Eagle, Globe and Anchor; the colors remain the same as the original keeping the traditional scarlet and gold; a gradient was applied to the inner red circle in order to simulate depth to the design. The three offset rings capture the three lines of effort established by the MCBH commanding officer while also reflecting the local Polynesian culture and warrior spirit. The overall theme for the poster is future technologies in which the bluish-green color and circle/hexagon patterns were used to emulate digital technology. The poster is currently displayed in various high traffic areas aboard MCBH facilities and has been used in the majority of command print and digital products as well as its social media communication channels (http://www.mcbhawaii.marines.mil/; https://www.facebook.com/MarineCorpsBaseHawaii/).(U.S. Marine Corps graphic design by Chief Warrant Officer 2 Michael Kropiewnicki)
