210604-N-ND356-1001 NAPLES, Italy (June 4, 2021) June is Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+) Pride Month. The month commemorates the events of June 28, 1969 when supporters of the Stonewall Inn, a “private” gay club of Greenwich Village, in New York City, took a stand and fought back against the police who carried out multiple raids and unjust treatment of the LGBTQ+ community. President Biden’s 2021 proclamation affirms LGBTQ+ Pride Month and marks it as “a time of hope, progress, and promise for LGBTQ+ Americans across the county.” Additionally Biden stated, “It is my conviction as Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces that gender identity should not be a bar to military service.” (U.
