210912-N-SS900-1001 SOUTH CHINA SEA (Sept. 12, 2021) Created to be the Flying “V” logo of Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), the design modernizes the former version to incorporate Vinson’s new relationship with the Air Wing of the Future. The “Gold Eagle” represents the call sign of the ship. The “CVN 70” on the shield represents Vinson’s responsibility to defend American interest and way of life. The “V” in the background signifies the ideals, beliefs and responsibility of Vinson and its crew. (U.S. Navy photo illustration by Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Aaron T. Smith)
