This graphic illustration was created in celebration of Native American Heritage Month on Camp Lejeune, N.C., Nov. 22, 2021. In 1942, the Marine Corps enlisted Navajo men to develop a special code in which sensitive information was sent and deciphered during World War II. This forever immortalized these men as the Navajo Code Talkers. (U.S. Marine Corps graphic illustration by Lance Cpl. Eric Rodriguez)
