211129-N-TL932-1001 PHILIPPINE SEA (Nov. 29, 2021) This layout was created for use in “Wingspan”, a newsletter aboard Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), Nov. 29, 2021. The purpose of this layout is to inform Sailors of a burial at sea that occurred aboard the ship. The title was framed to represent a coffin. “burial” and “at sea” were placed above Vinson and the ocean to show where it took place. The letters placed within the layout are referenced within the story and placed within the article for readers to see first-hand the effect these ceremonies have on the family’s involvement. The Chaplin Corps logo from aboard the ship is placed at the end of the story due to their involvement organizing and conducting the ceremonies and their involvement in the story.
