210919-N-SS900-2001 PHILIPPINE SEA (Sept. 19, 2021) A command patch created to represent Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70). The color scheme was sampled from the NWU Type III uniform camouflage pattern. The command crest resides on the left side of the patch to be closest to the wearer’s heart. The silhouetted F-35C Lightning II represents Vinson’s technological advances in becoming part of the Advanced Carrier Air Wing of the Future. The starburst light behind the carrier brings focus to the ship representing Vinson as “America’s Favorite Carrier.” The waves parting from the hull of the ship represents Vinson’s “Strength from the Sea.” The “70” behind the ship is the hull number of Vinson encompassing the American flag and represents the responsibilities of the crew to the American people.
