Meet your Defender, U.S. Army Sgt. Meliza Arias, a 91D power generation mechanic assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 1st Infantry Division Artillery. She serves a key role ensuring that all the power generation needs are met for her unit, making her an asset that keeps the power on with a key support role. She’s been a noncommissioned officer for the past three years, serving in various duty stations to include Korea, and Ft. Riley, and serves as a squad leader. Arias is one of the few female NCOs in the maintenance world of the 91 D, and has used her position to not just inspire her Soldiers to succeed but to mentor, and shape them to become the best they can aspire to be, as well as a mentor to other Soldiers.
