Marine Corps Logistics Base (MCLB) Albany can now call itself a “Net Zero” base. It is the first installation in the Department of Defense to meet this energy-efficiency milestone. Net Zero is defined as the production of as much electricity from renewable “green” energy sources as it consumes from its utility provider. This day is more than a decade in the making and involved the efforts of dozens within MCLB Albany.
This Twitter graphic details some of the efforts to reach Net Zero, including utilizing two landfill gas generators that generate 3.8 megawatts of energy from gas that would otherwise escape into the air and atmosphere. The graphic is 675px x 1200px.
